Dr. Alyssa Runyon

Hello! If you are on this page there is a very good chance you are now wondering, and you didn't hear wrong... my name is spelled Alyssa but pronounced “A-Lee-Sha”. In my four years of practice so far, I have found that every body is very different and you cannot treat every body and/or condition the same way. Moreover, every day can be different in the same body. Therefore you will find my treatment times can vary from 10 minutes to 60 minutes or longer. I have a wide range of treatment styles that include:

  • Diversified chiropractic technique

  • Thompson (drop) chiropractic technique

  • Activator technique

  • Webster chiropractic technique

  • Acupuncture

  • Interferrential Current

  • Electro-acupuncture

  • Guasha (scraping)

  • Education

  • Meditation integration

  • Homework through my online platform: The Reset 3 Program

Your needs are assessed on a treatment-by-treatment basis; no cookie-cutter treatments here!

Let's get personal! I came from humble beginnings growing up just outside of Creemore, Ontario. My mom was a school bus driver and my dad was a plumber. My life was never about ‘achieving’ or being pushed to be the best. It was more about having fun, experimenting with natural abilities and following my curiosity. Naturally, I excelled at sports, not academics. This tunnel-vision mentality led me to pursue my passion for volleyball and fitness at Niagara College. In my first year, volleyball was my priority but for the first time in my life, I was getting honour-roll status in academics. Just like how athletes describe their ‘state of flow’, that is how I would describe my academic career from there forward.

I became curious about compensations and inadequacies in the muscles of my personal training clients. I became focused on correcting these inadequacies through exercise. After a couple of years doing this, I noticed that some clients always struggled when performing certain exercises and I knew this was because their joints did not have the proper ranges of motion.

I followed this curiosity into a kinesiology degree at the University of Guelph-Humber where I landed a research position in the cadaver lab at the University of Guelph. Once again in that state of flow, I found myself on the dean’s list and once again honour-roll status. From there I followed my curiosity with lower back biomechanics to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

I quickly realized that although I did not come from a ‘chiropractic family’, nor a highly educated one at that; I was born to be a healer with my hands and I have a deep understanding of how the body moves.

Now I live in Barrie with my husband Mike, great pyrenees Kye, and calico kitty Macy.  You can often find me walking or biking to work.  Embracing my passion for healing by living naturally and sustainably, in alignment with my beliefs for my practice, in a constant state of flow for personal and professional growth.
